The papers of painter Joseph Glasco measure 8.3 linear feet and date from 1930 to 1996, with the bulk from 1950 to 1996. The collection documents Glasco's career through biographical material, extensive personal and professional correspondence, personal business records, gallery and exhibition files, photographic material, and printed material. Biographical material includes a scrapbook (compiled by the artist's mother) containing report cards, military service records, and photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings related to his art career, and a few drawings. Also included are resumes, notebooks, and legal documents. Correspondence reflects relationships with other artists, galleries, museums, and family members. Writings include texts about Glasco by others. Personal business records include gallery sales records, studio records, and leases. Photographic materials document Glasco, his friends and family, home, and studio, as well as individual artworks and exhibition views. Photographic formats include color and black and white prints (including a large number of Polaroids), 35mm slides, and medium format transparencies. Printed material includes exhibition brochures and catalogues, invitations, and clippings related to Glasco and his work, as well as a small collection of clippings relating to the artist's personal friends.
